Discovery  Taiwan
( 8 Days Tour Around Taiwan )

This is the most classic travel route that spans the most beautiful Central Cross-Island Highway in Taiwan, and it includes all the must-visit attractions in Taiwan.  Starting from Northern Taiwan to Taroko National Park, Sun Moon Lake, Alishan National Park, Taichung, then back to north.

Day 1

Arrival

  • A tour guide will greet you at the Taoyuan Airport arrival hall after you have claimed your baggage, holding a sign with your name on it.  You’ll be transported to your Taipei hotel and our tour guide will settle you in, go through your itinerary for the next few days, and answer any questions or concerns you may have. 

  • Overnight stay at Taipei hotel

Day 2

Taipei Sightseeing

  • Begin the day at the National Palace Museum early to avoid large crowds and experience a more exclusive guide to East Asian history. Next, we’ll lead you to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall for the “changing of the guards' ceremony.  Then head to one of the most known temples, Bangka Lungshan Temple, to fully experience Taiwanese culture, history, and religion.  Finally, end the night in Taipei with either the Raohe or Shilin night market for the food, shops, and fun stalls uniquely in Taiwan.

Day 3

Taroko gorge

Taroko National Park

  • Begin with an early but beautiful scenic drive along the Pacific coast to the Taroko National Park, located in the east of Taiwan.  There are options to stop by Jiaoxi or Suao for a relaxing natural hot spring experience.  Then a stop at the Qingshui Cliff will be made for a view of three distinct colors of the Pacific Ocean, as well as stops at the Eternal Spring Shine and the Swallow Grotto.  These are all popular vista points at the Taroko National Park.  The day will then end at a Voyager’s partnered Hotel with great views of the gorge, food, spa, outdoor pools, and many more.

Day 4 

Explore Taroko

  • Start the day with a walk at the Shakadang or Biayang Trails to explore the mountains and rivers at the Taroko National Park. For those who are more adventurous, the Zhuilu Old Trails is a great option for a walk along the cliff of the gorge.  In addition, Kayaking in the Pacific Ocean alongside the gorge and Qingshui Cliff are other great options for exploring the Toroko Gorge.

Day 5

Sun Moon Lake

  • Moving towards the center of Taiwan, we’ll take the Cross-Island Highway to Sun Moon Lake for a great mountain view with options to explore one of the tallest mountains of Taiwan (Hehuan Mountain) on the way to the shore of the lake. We’ll arrive at Sun Moon Lake before 4 pm to catch a cruise at the lake for the astounding scenery of the water and surrounding mountains.  End the night at the Ita Thao street market, an essential stop at Sun Moon Lake, for delicious aboriginal food and we’ll spend a night at a Sun Moon Lake hotel.

Day 6

Alishan National Park

  • Visit and spend a night at Alishan for some tea tasting and aboriginal culture experience before moving on to Taichung the next day.  At Alishan, you’ll learn about high mountain teas and tea ceremonies from a tea master at tea plantations and explore the indigenous culture and performances at the YUYUPAS Cultural Park.

Day 7

Taichung

  • Start the morning with a must-see sunrise, waking up at 4:30 AM to catch the scenic forest train up to the mountain peak.  After some breakfast and rest, we’ll go up to the mountain railway and take a stroll in the forest before heading to Taichung in the afternoon. On the way to Taichung, we’ll make a stop at the Rainbow Village to admire the paintings on the dilapidated houses, then we’ll check into a hotel in Taichung at night.

Day 8

Departure

Depending on flight times and schedules, there are options to make some pit stops along the way to Taoyuan Airport.
